We didn't have long to decide and a decision it was... I remember receiving that call like it was yesterday. It was a Wednesday night and we'd just gotten home from mtg. Both Glen and I spent that night on our knees... scared to really say anything to each other... when we finally opened our mouths we knew that it wasn't an option. However... before we committed, we wanted to get away and contemplate it all and how it really would change our lives. So... we packed up and headed to Banff. We spent the week-end wandering Banff, looking at everything that had a name on it... key chains, water bottles, name plates etc! What would be name this baby? Would it be a boy? a girl?
And thus, the tradition began! Every November long week-end, we have headed to Banff. With the kids we have loved staying at the Douglas Fir Resort... 2 huge waterslides, an indoor playground, a kitchen to make our meals etc.
This year, we were excited to have our good friends, Darrick and Charlene join us. Unfortunately we couldn't get into the same hotel, but it worked out well.
Thursday we each did our own thing... we both headed to Calgary and shopped at the new mall there... they headed out to the mountains and we headed into the city to meet up with Susan and Tim for supper. Was soooo good to see Susan and meet Tim. A wonderful couple, and we sure wish them the best on their journey east and eventually south!
It was a bit weird getting to the mountains in the dark! If you didn't know where you were, you would've had no idea you were in the mountains! It was DARK!
Friday we wandered town... as best you can with 6 kids! Our hubby's took the kids watersliding etc while Char and I exercised our eyes and tummy's in the room :-)
Saturday, the men decided that they deserved a guided fishing trip... hope they know that this was their Christmas present?! ha! So off they went at 9am and returned at 6pm. They each caught 4 fish, so I suppose it was a success. Us girls took the kids up the Banff Gondala.. it was cold but the kids loved the trip up and down. As soon as they got back, Char and I shopped Banff sans children. We weren't gone long and the boys took the kids back to the waterslides.
Home in time on Sunday for our last gospel mtg. Hard to believe it's that time already. We're looking forward to our special gospel mtg next week with the visiting workers and then Wednesday, our special company for supper and the night, and Specials on Sunday.
This means that the end of November is nigh... and with a sigh... I must return to work!
In the meantime... 9 dozen cookies to go out this week. Dough is made and in the fridge. Tonight they'll be baked and decorated over the next few days.
Didn't take many photos this trip and not any good ones either... but here are a few!
