What a man! :-) Glen's boss nominated him for a provincial award that is annually handed out at the Alberta Consulting Engineers Association Showcase Gala. The award is presented to the Rising Young Professional. A lot of criteria for this award including being involved with the CEA. Glen is a member of this board as a Young Professional. We don't know how many were nominated but 3 finalists were invited to this gala and the winner announced there! Glen was a little nervous! :-) I was too!!! So... all in all, it's a trophy, a trip to Ottawa to attend this years Canadian CEA conference, and a really big feather in your cap. At this gala all the CEO's and top people in Alberta's Engineer firms were there, including the Lieutenant Governor of Alberta and many other high end dignitaries. I really enjoyed the dinner... Roasted Pear Cream soup with a blue cheese wonton, the salad was a chicken or shrimp skewer on your greens with beets and pineapple and watermelon. The main course was Mahi Mahi served with grilled pineapple and mango salsa... due to Glen's shellfish allergy they gave him the vegetarian meal!! We switched!!! :-) Dessert was a macadamia cake with coconut sorbet. All sooooo good. Can you tell the theme was a Hawaiian Luau??? We were given Lei's to wear as we entered and were told to dress up. We weren't really comfortable dressing for this even though our good Hawaiian friend here had given us some great clothes to wear. I mean... it's FEBRUARY!!! Anyways.. we ended up just going formal. There was a good mix of formal and those who were brave enough to dress Hawaiian! Glen was cute... he was so nervous getting his award he could hardly smile his lips were shaking so bad!!! :-) There's an article on him in the CEA's annual magazine as well so that's a neat keepsake. Something to scrapbook anyways!!! I didn't take my camera so the cell phone photos are quite blurry. Will get the professional ones and post here at a later date.
Last year, Glen attended this CEA conference in New Brunswick. I was going to go with him, when a guy at work decided he would go and share Glen's room! That is not happening this year!!! So, we'll most likely make a family holiday out of it!
