Amanda Lindhout

What an aspiring lady!  You'll remember that she was the Alberta journalist (working for a French company at the time) who felt compelled to go to war-torn Somalia and cover their story... a war lasting 2 decades.   She and an Aussie photo-journalist were captured and held hostage for 15 months.  Let's just say that I sat and listened to her for an hour and bawled my eyes out!   Stripped of every ounce of dignity, abused and starved, but the forgiveness and hope she holds out to the Somalian people is incredible.   I really don't know what to say on the topic but that change can only occur through compassion.   So in my little job as a teacher, and the 'horrors' I see  even in the kids I teach, which certainly don't compare to Somolia, I want to show more compassion and help change their lives, knowing that someone, just one person, cared for them.    http://www.globalenrichmentfoundation.com/  is a foundation that Amanda has started to help the Somolian women receive an education.. to help them become leaders in their families and communities, to help change their country.   I'm thankful that I can't even begin to comprehend what Amanda and other people in these countries have experienced.   I was thankful for her attitude and again, it gives me no excuse to not show compassion to my brother or sister.
