Mia turns 5

It's hard to believe that 5 years ago today we sat at the Grey Nuns eagerly anticipating the birth of Mia! No idea of whether or not it would be a boy or a girl, we were excited! Now 5 years has passed, and our special lil girl, who is very proud to be adopted, will soon start school! I'm glad that I decided to hold her back this year. She could've started kindergarten this past Fall, but it's been good to just have another year at home together. She'll be more then ready to start school in September. She loves to read and write, knows her letters and numbers, how to write them, and can write several words without any help. Comic books are a favourite past-time, and she loves to be read to.

How would you describe Mia??? Hmm... A girl of extremes is the best way to describe her I think. She can be the sweetest, or the most stubborn! She can be the most generous, or the greediest! A typical child!!! Music is a passion of hers... everything is done with song and dance. She loves to tinker away at the piano, pluck her guitar, and fiddle a tune on her violin, all with some made up song to accompany it all!! She is adventurous... always trying new things, and is thankfully, quite agile in the process. She can flip on her monkey bars, jump off the hottub, all without injury it seems. Wyatt tries it, and it always results in a banged head, rolled ankle etc!

The thing I love best about Mia... she loves deeply. She doesn't have to know you... she just crawls up on anyones lap who's willing to hold her. She's a snuggler... more so now then when she was younger. Like I said, she's a girl of extremes... she'll love deep in everything she does... it's always intense, and with passion. A great quality to have, if steered in the right direction!! So that's my prayer for her!!! I wonder what the teen-age years will hold... she acts like one now most times!! She'd much prefer to hang out the older girls, rather than girls her own age!!!

Her and Wyatt get along really well most days... they play really well together, playing dogs or house etc! Mia is a girl... she loves her Barbies, and Littlest Pet Shop toys... she is quite adept at her Leapster, playing the Pet game or her Princess games... she loves Webkinz Jr. and some games on the computer that she calls her 'dot com'!

Here are some questions I asked Mia today and her replies from the view of a 5 year old:

Favourite thing to do: DS games (her leapster- she calls it a DS!)

Fav thing to eat: popsicles

Fav place to go: park

Fav thing to wear: pink!

Fav colour: pink!

Fav toy: lego

What do you think of mom: "you kind of want to share"

What do you think of dad: "He's mean!" As she smiles and laughs!!!

What do you think of Wyatt: "He's takes away my toys when I'm playing!"

What do you think of Natalie: "She just sleeps!"

We couldn't imagine life without our lil sweetheart. With her big brown eyes, curly hair and dimples, there's nothing to not love about her! Mia wants chicken and fries for her birthday supper tonight... so I imagine it's a trip to McDonald's... the things you do, and the places you go for your children!!!! She'll be excited tonight to open up her presents. Will post pics later! In the meantime... HAPPY 5th BIRTHDAY MIA! We love you!!!
