Ode to....

Yup... that's right... Mr. Glen Robert Campbell! :) As he's off working hard, earning some meager pennies to support his wife and 3 kidlets, I thought I would tell you all about him! You thought you knew him before... ha! Just kididng :) You see... he just informed me the other day, that he actually reads this blog every single day! I think he finds out more information this way then if we were to hold a conversation, or something! We'll probably end up as one of those couples who facebook each other while sitting across the room from one another!

It is funny though... when you have kids, life revolves around your kids... conversation revolves around your kids... when you go out without your kids... you talk about your kids! What did we talk about before?! So it's not often that we get to tell each other what's really on our mind, so here's what's on mine!

It all started one Sunday night after the first gospel meeting in Regina. I was just 18... moved from small town Strathmore, to "big" city Regina to go to University. It was my first week-end in town... the whole family was there, having brought me down. I was going to be living with my dear aunt and uncle, who are good friends of Glen's aunt and uncle. Low and behold, this really cute, dark, curly haired Aussie has just arrived in town too! So it was after that first gospel mtg that we were over at Wayne and Marg's with a few people for coffee. I was in awe-struck! Us young kids were hanging out in the basement, and I just couldn't take my eyes my off Glen! :)

(Yes Glen, I know that you are now rolling your eyes!!!) But... let me continue! His accent was delicious and I found the conversation about kangaroo hunting quite intriguing!

So of course some teasing got started... but... yiks! He has a girl friend back home! hmm... now that could prove to be a problem... ok... maybe not!

In the next few weeks... we saw a bit of each other at young kids things... chatted lots about his upcoming trip to Europe, as I'd been there the summer before with a group of girls. One of the sister workers in SK likes to take claim for our relationship as we spent most of the young kid mtg talking to each other... apparently everyone notice except for us!

However... he didn't last long in Regina... off to Calgary he went... the girls were certainly plenteous there so I, a shy girl, just had to take the bull by the horns! For some reason... I happen to call it fate... my aunt had Glen's birthday written on her calendar... Well... what a good reason to give the man a call! So I muster up the courage... of course he isn't home.

He's living with his cousin who thinks he's quite funny and plays a game on Glen! He tells me on the phone that Glen will sure be upset that he missed my call, and how much Glen really likes talkign to me. (he made this up!) Then he tells Glen I called and tells him the same thing! I guess I should thank Mike for that!!! Anyways.. a few trips back and forth to Calgary and Regina... love was in the air. I knew he was the one when a good friend of mine was diagnosed with cancer and things weren't looking good. Things that he said to me during that time, I realized he was the one. However... a short relationship is was... he was off to Europe and back home! So engaged we were... and off he left. We were apart for 8 months and 10 days... I remember a worker asking how I was, and asking about Glen.. i started to cry!! :)

Ok.. anyways... married August 12, 2000... here we are.. almost 10 years later, 3 kids later, and what a man he is!

Did you know?

He's the best husband...

He's the best dad...

and I have him!

He makes the bed, he helps around the house... he takes the kids out by himself... puts them to bed... ok... so he basically does whatever I ask, and it's easy to take advantage of that! He does it with a smile on his face and love in his heart. He brings me flowers for no reason, works hard... I mean... what else can I say. He's gentle, he's kind, he's amourous, he's understanding, he's thoughtful, he's wise, he's spiritual.

So even though life gets busy, and sometimes we forget about the one we loved first before the kids came along... I love you, babes!
