rules....

Respect, respect, respect. It's missing in most children's lives these days and it's ticking me off!
That's pretty much my rule... you respect me, the school, others and yourself. It covers everything. It means you raise your hand to answer a question, it means you sit still in your desk instead of wandering around and disrupting the learning process in others, it means you treat others kindly even when they don't treat you so kind. It basically means... sit down and shut up!
Lack of respect... loud noises disturb Sarah. So... what does my class do... well, someone starts to silently hum, until others join in and let's see what kind of SCREAM we can get from Sarah. Or... let's start tapping our toes until she screams louder.
Lack of respect... i don't have to do that... we didn't have to do this with the other teacher... when are you going to stop being so strict?
However... it doesn't stop there.. it goes right to the parents. A mom came and visited me and told me that she's received 2 emails from other parents wondering what's going on in my class because apparently I'm chucking things and breaking things! my oh my! This mom is 100% supportive of whatever I do to break these kids into normal human beings. So I told her how her son was playing with a lil motorbike while i was talking... i took it and gently tossed it onto my shelf... i missed of course and it fell. All the kids went home and told a bigger story and now... here i am... brother. Anyways... i demonstrated for the mom and my EA was there too and had seen me do it so I have back-up! Like... why not email me to ask... or better yet... keep your nose out of your busines... it had nothing to do with any other kid!
And I destroyed xmas for some kid in Grade 5 who still believed in Santa.. GIVE ME A BREAK!
While joking with another kid, I jokingly said, "what you still believe in Santa?" A girl overhears, runs home to mommy and said I was all snarky and so her mom calls the VP. and I get in major crap and have to call this mother whose phone number doesn't work and the dad's apparently on crack. So... impossible and we'll deal with that on Monday. Her sister is in my class too and so I honestly believe she was just looking for something to get at me for. I've been warned that because this class has gotten away with murder in the past, just like the kids do at home, I'll be in for some nasty letters and phone calls since I'm actually laying the law down and demanding some common courtesy.
Oh sorry... did YOU still believe in Santa? Have a great Christmas!
