Birthdays, Police, and Shopping!

Happy Day Gpa!

Days continue to come and go... isn't that quite a thing? A miracle really! Yesterday was dad's birthday... I've lost track of just how old he is, but he claims that he's not an old man, so he must be somewhere in those mid-50's! The kids sang Happy Birthday to him when he got home from work, then it was get your own supper (get your own bowl of cereal!), and then mtg. Wed night mtg here is at 7:30 and there were only 10 of us to take part. We didn't last the full hour this time!!! Wyatt conked out in mtg. so with him in bed, the rest of us chowed down on dad's birthday cupcakes!!
Today's excitement was not only that mom had the day off of work, but that we ventured the 40 min drive to Ellenton to hit the outlet stores. Well... the real excitement was actually at the gas station before we left town.
Mom is outside filling up the car when we hear yelling and screaming like a huge fight has broken out. People are getting nervous. In fact, I'm not so sure the lady beside us finished filling up her car... she hopped in and took off, wide eyed and bushy tailed. So we hear this, "PUT YOUR HANDS ON TOP OF THE CAR... THIS IS THE SHERIFF... PUT YOUR HANDS WHERE I CAN SEE THEM" etc etc etc! As we drive by, there's the sheriff handcuffing one guy, and a couple of plain clothes officers... one getting a guy out of the back seat of the car, and the other on the ground with the other, knee into his back. So... who knows what the deal was but... it got mom's heart racing anyhow!
Once to the outlet, the kids fared the best of anyone! New outfits, winter pj's, and Sunday shoes were the purchases. Mom and Gma came away empty handed. sniff sniff!
Tonight we headed out to a pizza place for supper, and then hit the mall to wait out the torrential downpour during the thunderstorm. Got some new books, as Gpa and Gma are getting sick of reading the same old, same old stories each and every night!
5 more sleeps and Glen will be here. Wyatt came into my bed last night wanting daddy. I told him that he'd be here soon... so for the rest of the night, he talked in his sleep, reassuring himself that dad was coming soon! Sleeping with Wyatt is an experience as he rolls and kicks away... having to have his feet on top of you in some form or another!
So... those are our summer days here...
