Vancouver 2014

Glen and I decided to take a week-end to ourselves and go visit Vancouver. Neither of us have spent much time in this city... me, not at all!  So we got looking at dates and realized that our week-ends were pretty booked up so we decided to go right away!  Found flights still available with Airmiles and we used Hotwire with specific street names to find us a hotel.   It ended up perfect as we ended up staying at the Fairmont Waterfront.  Gorgeous spot and perfect location for our walking needs.  The Vancouver Dine Out Festival was on, along with the Hot Chocolate Festival... how perfect for us!   So we ate and drank... and ate some more.  I was sooooo full!!   It was fun, although pricey paying about $8 average for a hot chocolate!  "-$  But so worth it... from the mint ones to the gelato on a stick that we dipped to the fondue choc with salted kettle chips!   My favourite restaurant was Joe Fortes, a steak and seafood joint.  The vibe was awesome.  We sat on the mezzanine, looking down onto the Jazz pianist as well as watching the crowd below.  I loved our older Polish waiter and the lobster oil and balsamic vinegar was delightful!  We both had steak and it was d-lish!
We walked and walked.   One day, we walked a few km to the other side and caught the water taxi to Granville Island. That was super fun to walk around the really neat shops, and had lunch at Bridges, another great restaurant.
We did the Fly Over Canada which was a neat IMAX/ride.... neither Glen or I were sure what to expect but Glen thought it looked neat.  It also included a "fly over" China in honour of Chinese New Year.   It was fun to have our seats lift off the ground and turn as we flew through the air with the scents being blown in our face.
The weather was perfect at an average of 9 degrees and NO SNOW!!   Soooo nice.  Late breakfasts, lots of hot chocolates and late suppers.   Did the heart good to be just the two of us again for a few days.   Time to breathe and smell the flowers, so to speak!   These pics are not in order, but that's ok with me, if it's ok with you! :-)  You won't know the difference anyhow!
